"Trained as a fine artist I also enjoy, perhaps even prefer, working towards practical, useful and beautiful objects of all kinds. This site gives a surface sketch of some of all the different kinds of work I do. I enjoy being challenged towards making something new and different, so please don't hesitate to contact me if you have an idea or project you'd like me to work on. I live and love to work."
Hand-printed fabric, painted ceramics, charcoal drawings, digital graphics, weird doodles, lust bunnies... She's an idea gardener. Plant a seed, watch it grow.
Fabric Designer.....
Local plants and everyday shapes are the inspiration for my homegrown fabrics. Using transparent vegetable inks the colour is applied in layers for a unique damask look. The colour mixing and the printing are done by hand, elevating each cloth from utility object to art. The fabrics used are 100% cotton drills, denims and voile. Individual & bulk orders are welcome. Please e-mail us for more info.
Ceramics....
I enjoy the simple freedom of a freehand brush on a flat ceramic surface. Designs are from the mind fields of the ocean and the veld. The plates are stoneware, suitable for table use or wall display, but not dishwasher friendly.one of the more popular charachters from the Molo Mzanzi range.
Stationery....
She's on the wrap, cards, tags and t-shirts. For you non Mzanzis "Eish!" means roughly "oh man...".
Comfort Creatures....
Kwandwe Comfort Creatures are so named because the soft little guys will bring comfort to the impoverished people that make them as well as to the final owners. The project was initiated by the Angus Gillis Foundation and the creatures designed & developed by creative team Tori Stowe & Gladys Manyati.
